Castaways Resort & Spa On Mission Beach is comprised of two centrally located properties. The absolute beachfront property features rooms and apartments with unrivalled ocean views and direct access to a 14 km long beautiful, white sandy beach. Located 100 metres up the road, the rainforest property features economy rooms nestled amongst lush internal rainforest gardens.

Both properties provide access to 3 swimming pools, Drift Day Spa, Castaways Beach Bar and Grill and an in-house fitness centre.

The property is located in Mission Beach, a 90-minute drive south of Cairns. Mission Beach boasts a great variety of activities with over 20 nearby islands, white-water rafting, snorkelling and scuba-diving reef trips, skydiving over the beach, crocodile spotting, whale tours, chocolate tours and more.

Good location and value with kind staff, rooms need a big refreshment.

Amazing location! Lovely staff and good bar service.

The rooms are quite beaten up and the beds were uncomfortable. The soap, shampoo, and body wash are all the same product and overall the amenities felt quite cheap.

Noisy renovations and a miserable receptionist !!

Location was perfect, straight onto the beach and a 10 min walk to the shops

I paid $1700.00 for 5 nights, which was an extravagance for us. We needed a relaxing break. The aircon kept turning off on its own but would restart when turned off. The building is obviously going under renovations. One morning at 7.10 a.m. , a tradesman was tapping on pipes and grinding, which woke me up and continued for some time. When booking at Castaways for the price I paid, I would have liked the option to know major renovations where going on and whether I wanted different accommodation elsewhere. Joy or Jay the receptionist/manager, was not very welcoming nor when we were checking out, she didn't ask whether we enjoyed our stay. All she wanted was our money. When we asked for an invoice, she wouldn't give us one. Just poor people skills.

Great location, value for money if you get a good deal.

I love the location which is why I stay in this hotel it is right on the beach and walking distance to some nice restaurants. I have stayed before so I knew what to expect. I got a great deal which provided value for money given the venue is starting to age. The women on reception were a pleasure.

Great location and great staff

Food was great, welcome was lovely, incredibly clean and fab location

The two fire alarms at 3.30am and 5.30am - these things happen, but there was a distinct lack of response/ apology/ explanation in the morning. A ‘ I’m so sorry! Have a coffee on us’’ or something would have gone a long way as it sounded like it was down to poor maintenance. Bar service and food service was five star, and generally the place was excellent though.

We still love the view to the beach and the area, but this is the only reason we keep coming back.

Well this stay was the 3rd year in a row that we have stayed here for 2 weeks at a time, it is really the location and the town, that so impresses us, it is in particular my wife’s favourite holiday destination in Australia and to a large extent mine. It’s the friendly people in the town of Mission Beach, not too big, not too small and the magnificent beach. I try and go in the sea everyday, but l am a bit concerned by the possibility of coming across a crocodile. We only come in the non-stringer season.

Well l think Castaways ( Club Wyndham now ), needs a lot of attention, the 2 pools for instance, l do laps in the lap pool with goggles and both pools differently need to be cleaned better, using a automatic cleaner occasionally just doesn’t get the bottom and side surfaces clean enough. Our room 102, the TV wasn’t even a Smart TV and the day after we arrived this time, the cable was cut at Dunk Island, l complained to cleaning room manager, but we had no TV for over a week, we had to view on our phones only, until l mentioned to manager and he organised a replacement TV. On the Northern Side on the building some air-conditioner bottoms are completely rusted out. We don’t eat at the Resort Restaurant because it’s too expensive.

Fabulous location on the beach just a short walk from town. Enjoyed a delicious dinner at restaurant and relax by the pool. Balcony was great with the day bed. Get an ocean view room!

We stayed here a year ago and left poor feedback because we were given a room we didn't like and the place was run down and in need of some money being put back into it, we only chose to stay again because of the convenient location but we were pleasantly surprised to learn that it had been taken over by Club Wyndham just a month earlier and in that short period of time we could see they had already fixed a lot of the things we thought needed fixing previously and feel they will get this place back to its former glory.

Staff mostly backpackers which isn't an issue but they needed training, in the restaurant we had three meals brought to us that weren't ours and two drinks because the tables weren't numbered so they had trouble figuring out which was which. The other issue was we were there for three days, we went to the bar during happy hour three times and were charged three different prices, also in the lift the signage said the cocktail of the month was a Mission Sunset for $12 but when we ordered one we were told that was no longer the monthly drink special yet that sign remained in the lift for another day before it was eventually changed, just small issues that can frustrate guests so I hope these are just teething issues and get ironed out. Also two queen beds next to each other left us no room, we were a couple and only needed and wanted one bed, there was nowhere to sit inside, one bed should have made way for a sofa or small dining area.

Our overall stay was enjoyable.

Location is beautiful. Our balcony had views of the beach (50 m away).

We had a loft suite with the bedroom and ensuite upstairs and the living areas and 2nd bathroom downstairs. Unfortunately our ensuite shower leaked into the downstairs shower which had obviously tried to be temporarily patched up prior to our arrival. This was quite inconvenient and when I reported it, I was told there would be a maintenance person coming to have a look that day. I never had any feedback as to what actually had transpired. I had to go back to reception and enquire as to what the prognosis was, which was it has to be investigated more, so to continue using the downstairs bathroom. We were not offered any apology or compensation for the inconvenience caused over our 3 night stay.

Loved the access to the pool from the room . The location is excellent right on the beach . Will definitely return possibly for a couple of nights in the future .

The room looked tired and old , I would have expected a better quality room for the price paid. Our room could definitely have done with some redecorating and renovation.

Lovely stay - infrastructure works problematic

The location and view from the second floor to the ocean. The property has been recently painted, the bathroom was great and generally comfortable. Love the pool.

The roadworks completely dominated the centre of town, which meant only the pub and the fish and chip shop were open. The couch is close to needing an update

Beautiful central location but a little dated. Hopefully it gets the makeover it deserves.

Great beach front location. The pool and dining areas look amazing.

The rooms are very dated and in need of a makeover. Whilst clean, there was obvious signs of age with vanities pealing and the bath tub feeling very thin & weak underfoot like you could go through it at any stage. We also felt the restaurant menu was very limited.
